Shopify has now opened up their platform for CBD and hemp merchants. Both Shopify Core and Shopify Plus Merchants will be able to sell their products and publish content on the platform. It was only a matter of time before the platform opened up Shopify for CBD merchants, since it is now expected to become a $22 billion industry by 2022.
The e-commerce platform has been at the forefront of the Cannabis movement for a while now and we’re really excited the company is opening up the platform to U.S. Cannabis merchants. Shopify will offer theme design options, payment processing, shipping and marketing, in more than 40 states to merchants of cannabidiol (CBD)
“We aren’t really getting into the CBD business, CBD is getting into the retail business,” Loren Padelford, vice president and general manager of Shopify Plus, said in an interview.
