Novus Shoes, BKS shoes (formerly known as Bakers), and La Favorita are all enterprise-level shoewear and accessories brands that fall under the Novus Group. Over the year, all 3 brands have witnessed considerable growth and increased store traffic, both online and offline. Unfortunately, their Magento eCommerce stores were failing to meet the brand’s enterprise needs for a high-performing eCommerce experience, frictionless checkout, and storefronts that well-present their different brands’ identities.

Through data-backed discovery, iterative design, and robust technology advancements, Avex crafted not one, but three, high-performant online stores for Novus that deliver frictionless digital experiences and an excellently displayed product catalog that is set up for ease of navigation.
We used Novus Shoes’ brand pillars to anchor us at every step in revamping the eCommerce presence of all three brands. We infused freshness and novelty into developing and designing highly functioning online stores while still aligning with “The Novus Way” - having the customers in mind when selecting and presenting the widest variety of shoe styles.
REVIVED Design Overhaul for Product Discovery
We fully redesigned novushoes.com, lafavorita.com, and bksshoes.com to bolster the fresh, revived and unique identities of the brands through their digital experiences. The goal was to give all 3 brands a similar look and feel to accentuate the Novus umbrella they belong under while distinguishing each of them with its own UX/UI design elements and visual identity.
Enterprise Migration from Magento to Shopify Plus
Such a product heavy catalog with 10k+ SKUs across all three brands has to have a highly functional website that allows regular product uploads without crashing. After an intensive technical discovery phase, it was decided that the best course of action would be to replatform the storefronts to Shopify Plus. As a result, the brand is currently reaping the benefits of a stable, frictionless platform that is optimized for continual product updates.
NEW Custom-built Connector Between SAP and Shopify
Avex technical solutions team provided Novus with multiple-level consultations and technical documentation on how to rebuild and launch a new SAP <> Shopify Connector which shared data from SAP with the brand’s storefront in real-time. At this stage, Avex team also had considerable involvement in the product mapping as well.
FRESH Outlook on Email Marketing
Yearning for automation and personalization, eCommerce platform migration wasn’t the only migration in order. Migrating customer lists from Mailchimp to Klaviyo was the first step toward taking Novus email marketing campaigns to the next level. Once the full Klaviyo setup and implementation were taken care of, the retention marketing team at Avex set Novus up with automated flows that are bound to drive conversions, retention, and customer lifetime value.
The successful end result of this project is attributed to the highly collaborative relationship that held the Novus and Avex team together. We spent a lot of time learning about Novus pain points in order to help refine their online stores in a way that eases their everyday operations, appeals to their target customers, and best serves their business goals. The ongoing meetings and the shared goal of setting this project up to success were the foundation for a long-lasting relationship between Avex and Novus beyond the typical agency-client relationship.
